It's been hard to get a post published here. I've been busy and next week I'll be on vacation. Sorry if you keep checking in to see if I've reviewed that Sonic Youth album I've yet to finish listening. There just hasn't been the time or motivation to blog lately.
I've updated my professional development blog Mr. E., but most of you don't care about that. I've also been somewhat regular with my new beer blog Bottles & Cans. So, keep coming back or check in with those other blogs. I promise that I'll blog here again.
Besides, I hear blogging is dead.

Blogging's Hard

Hiatus
I'm considering going on hiatus indefinitely. This means that I may take more than the week I just took between posts to put something on this blog. I've got some ideas for the direction of lim, but I'm still working those out.
In the meantime, look for some additional pages and changes to the links along the right. I'm pretty happy with the new design, so that will probably stay the same. I plan to change some of the blogrolls to match my content better. Also, I've talked about starting an lim store in the past. That will happen this summer. I won't make any money from it, but it could be a cool diversion once in a while.
I'm mostly looking at the theme of my content. I've never liked that I am all over the place, aside for my grumblings about this place. There are a ton of things over the past two weeks that I haven't bothered to report, but the posts could have been a great vehicle for some of my new ideas. Just stay tuned...

Yes, I'm still here.
Sorry for the lack of posts. We had to skip town to Detroit for a funeral. (R's grandfather passed.) So, I have had little time for anything that is not funeral, baby, or work related the past few days. Stay tuned. I will get at least one (more) post out this week.
Until then...

Weekend Wedding in Queens and other stuff
We're off this afternoon for Queens, NYC - the new Brooklyn. Friends are getting hitched, though they'd have more luck with legalities in Cali. It should be a good time. I plan to try out my new Flip camera. There will be no blogging until Monday or Tuesday evening, so go outside and enjoy the rain.
I missed last night's show at Mojo's featuring Gentleman Auction House and Colormusic, due to eating too much Thai food at R's colleague's. You should go to Mojo's for the Humane Society shindig on Saturday for me and support Billy Schuh (Foundry Field Recordings). He'll probably have some new tunes to share. Also, he goes on first, so you won't have to wait around.
Don't bother watching Angelina Jolie bending bullets or a trash compactor find true love. Instead, if you want to escape the humidity, go to the 'Tag and see Son of Rambow or one of the other delectable indie films on display. The 'Tag may even have a rock show, but I don't know that for sure. (Fliers, people. Just post a few fliers!)
There are a few things planned here at lim. It doesn't look like any interesting albums will come out next week, so I'll probably do some political posts or sports or something. I am definitely planning a best hang-outs list. I may even recount this weekend's activities. Of course with the 4th coming up and R out of town for a baby shower, who knows what will happen next weekend? Also, once I get around to it, I will create a living in misery store for all your shopping needs. One dollar of every item sold will go to my kid's college fund. More on these things later.
I have hinted at it before, but there are big things ahead in the coming months concerning the local music scene, and comoprozac is fully involved. Let's just say we're making over something old in hopes of creating something new for all the kids and their crazy rock 'n roll music. Stay tuned.
I don't know what you'll do this weekend, but don't wait around for me to post. Although, it should be noted that I had record traffic the past few days thanks to my good friends, Anonymous and Gil. Sure, there was a ton of page views by the same people over and over, skewing the page visit numbers, but Google Analytics reports that there were 78 individual visitors on Wednesday making 117 separate visits.
In the meantime, you should read Hardcore Blog Fisting Action and The Penultimate Couponwhore. They are the first couple of blogging and deserve your respect. Also, check out The Good Part's Next for Superchunk references and ardent Obama support. And when you're done with those, read Central Standard as it makes its triumphant return from Italy. Then, you could always sift through the many other good blogs listed to the right.
Thanks for reading and have a good weekend.

It's Dead Around Here
I am so sorry for keeping my readership patiently waiting for my next post. It gets really dead in a college town come June. I find it hard to post when nothing's going on. Don't worry, I'll get my mojo back.
Eventually, I have a ton of records to review, some comments on the NBA Finals, more politic, and probably something about COMO in the summertime or something about the impending arrival of my spawn.
That is all.

I'm Still Alive
I'm sure some of you were wondering what happened to me the last couple of days. Well, I'm in Tampa Bay or St. Petersburg or something. Anyway, there's a gulf (of Mexico) just outside and I have some sun burn on the one spot on my arm where I missed with the sunscreen.
Anyway, I would write more, but I just thought I'd let you all know that I'm still alive and blogging.
Look for a new post possibly on music (The Kills or whatever arrives in the mail from Insound), our little vacation with the in-laws, or the NCAA tournament (of which I'm doing OK) Wednesday night or sometime Thursday. In the meantime, check some of the new blogs I've been reading like 95total, Doubletakes, Photo Basement, and What I Listened to on My Way to Work Today.
Later.

Funerals, Flights, and Films*, Part One
Our long and eventful weekend of funerals, flights, and films began Thursday morning with a flight to Detroit Rock City. While traveling to major cities with real ethnic food and culture usually gets us excited, this trip was for a not-so-joyous reason. As mentioned in previous posts, R's grandmother passed earlier in the week and we were doing what family does which is pay our respects no matter the distance.
That evening with some family, we were able to enjoy some of the tastiest of that ethnic food at Priya's. Everyone ordered their dish Thali style which includes naan, various side dishes, and rice served in metal bowls and tray. Since no one ever orders vegetables in this group, R and I volunteered to order the palak paneer and okra fry. We passed the veggie, lamb, and chicken dishes around in order to enjoy an assortment of flavors. The food was excellent and made me long for better Indian food to come to COMO, like we had in Columbus. The mango lassi was among the best I've had.
The following day found us spending our time at a wake. It's one thing to attend someone's wake/viewing and it's another thing being a part of the family. When you're part of the family, you spend the day at the funeral home, awkwardly navigating through conversations with people you see once or twice a year. For much of the day, I was on nephew watch as my brother-in-law visited with family.
The most intriguing part of the funeral home was this very odd lounge in the basement. Just past the two-story waterfall and goldfish pool, was what can only be described as a sort of green room. Now, when I write "green room" I don't mean the space where performers await their turn on stage. I'm talking about a room with lawn furniture, green carpeting between brick walkways, and vine-covered trellises painted on the walls. Personally, I would not find this very comforting in a time of loss.
We were able to take a break from the green room and wake with some family across the street at Kirby's Coney Island. I won't go into great detail except to say that it is never a good idea to eat two Coney dogs in one sitting. Although, R's uncle ate three and was bugging a three-year-old for his hot dog.
The following morning we were right back at the funeral home for the actual funeral. It was a nice ceremony. It was short, sweet, and to the point, unusual for a Catholic anything. We quickly said our good-byes and made a break for the airport and a noon take-off.
The flight was delayed about twenty minutes when we arrived at the airport. It seems that four inches of snow only slows down some cities instead of completely shutting them down...like some places I know. So, we had time to breath and to consider what our return to COMO had in store for us...
To be continued.

Xmas Breakin' Too: Electric Boogaloo
Don't expect me to keep blogging. I'll try to continue the best albums list, start a few new lists, and report on the strangeness that is Christ's birth, but I will have limited time in front of a computer with high speed internet access.
In the meantime, read a book, spend time with your loved ones, and seriously contemplate man's inhumanity to man over the next few days.
Later.
