Signs that We're Ready

Having a kid has taught me over anything else that reproduction really does keep the economy going. It makes me think that abstinence-only education really does work...for retail sales.

Anyway, we're in the middle of week 39. We're ready for this thing to happen. There's been research, tears, showers, and growth. To help demonstrate my point, I gathered some images to prove our readiness.

I've equipped both cars with window shades, mirrors and car seat bases. So, we're ready to make that trip to Ohio for a wedding at the end of September.

I've published a pic before of the kid's stuffed animal collection. As you can see, it's grown. Folks like to give stuffed animals. We're grateful.

Here's an updated pic of the nursery. The crib is fully assembled (replacement parts were sent promptly). Also, curtains and a mobile have been added.

Being a teacher for ten years and knowing a load of academics means that we're set on children's books...even though the kid won't be able to read for some time.

This next picture doesn't look like much, but that dresser used to be covered in bright red paint. My father-in-law and I stripped the paint and I finished it off with some stain and polyurethane. The entire room has been a family project really. My folks helped with the painting and all the grandparents helped supply the room.

Also, notice the Diaper Champ to the left. Apparently, babies poop a lot. And, the second pic shows how stocked we are in both new and borrowed clothing. This kid already has more clothes than I have in my closet.

Below are the two places our kid will most likely find him/herself the most...aside from our arms, the co-sleeper, or the crib.

Next is the ride-a-sheep my mom bought. This is the first grandchild on my side, so you can only imagine what's to come.

This is just a cute picture of the dog, Bodhi. I'm not sure he's ready, but he is cute.

Of course, the real sign that we're ready for pregnancy to be over is below. The rack is actually full and, for once, larger than my beer stash. We'll keep you all posted.

Yup, you've got it pretty well covered. Our first kid came 2 weeks early...the same day we were moving. New baby, new apartment - - that was fun.

Hooray for breeders! Thank you for repopulating the earth with cool kids!

We have also gotten you a tiny token for your tiny bundle. We will send it shortly, but because I try to anticipate beyond the first few months, you will be able to pack it away over winter.

Being from a breeding family, I know the outpouring of 0-3 months items are very generous. It will be nice to pull out in spring, when even 3-6 months items no longer fit the baby's needs.

Funny how that works, how new infants become new babies become new toddlers so very fast. It's going to be very special. Enjoy.

Also, judging by your pictures, I will speculate on it's sex....

But I won't share it yet!

Thanks, all.

GE, that must have been fun.

KR, thanks...oh wait. You meant the dog.

Lovey, thanks for the kind words. I'd like to know your thoughts on the sex. We don't even know the answer to that question, yet.

My thought is that the Ma and Pa both have a special knowledge before even they realize it.

My sisters have known sex, or at least accurately guessed it, long before wee one popped out they got scans.

I should mention that I suspect them witches. Caveat.

Looking at your own pictures, I speculate a lovely lady in your future, by the environment created.

But I could also be confusing by the sultry licks that come out of a properly loved musical instrument.

Regardless of gender, sex, preference to silence you are going to make a wee that appriciates "beats."

An artistic Libra baby.

That's what you've really got.

That sounds good to me.
