Thirty-Two Words: Oberst shed his moniker, record label, and youthful angst for a more mature, rootsier sound. The album is chock full of great songs. Now Oberst has to piece together a cohesive album.
The Moment of Truth: A bar room rocker with a silly-yet-catchy hook took by surprise in "NYC Gone, Gone."

maybe I'll have to give this a chance. I could never get into the Bright Eyes stuff that sounds too earnest or angsty, and figured a solo effort would go further down that road. but Oberst doing a bar-rook rocker? that sounds worthwhile.
