It occurred to me that maybe fifty people read this blog on average, per day. So, the least I could do is inform those 49 people and my mom what's going on in our little part of the world.
I may have come in possession of a free Iron & Wine ticket. (Of course, I'm still waiting to see if this will go through.) They're playing the Pageant in St. Louis tomorrow night. I guess there's no COMO stop this time around. Oh well, I'll let you know how it was when I get back.
Have I mentioned my love of the beer? I've really gotten into finer beers lately. Rumor has it that Sycamore is hosting a beer tasting Monday around 8:45. The fee is to bring a beer not usually sold in this market. I brought back a Lagunitas IPA from Seattle for just this event. If you want to come, don't show up with the Natty Light or PBR.
Zach from the Bathysphere sent me a tip that the 'Tag is putting on another rock show that no one knows about. Ramona Córdova plays the little theater that could this Tuesday. Córdova has been described as a Devendra Banhart-type...which could be good or bad (stinking hippies). I guess he has one of those MySpace things that you can visit and decide if it's worth your time.
OK, so I have to go off on this tangent...The 'Tag has had several really interesting rock shows since opening its doors this past winter. I saw Cave and missed the woman-who-sounded-like-Cat-Power-but-I've-already-forgotten-her-name. The problem is that they don't advertise. A few fliers around town or some mentions on the radio would do the trick. Anything would bring the hipsters out and support these little endeavors so that they happen again.
Maybe if there was just a website that covered all the great music coming to town with record reviews, features, and a calendar of events...Hmmm...More on that in the near future.
In the near future, it looks as if it will be a typically slow COMO summer. Son Ambulance and Jennifer O'Connor have a gig at Mojo's in support of new releases. Also, COMO regulars Dr. Dog will play a set with local heroes the Foundry Field Recordings opening (the new songs are great), also at Mojo's. You should go to one or both of these shows. Actually, you should go early and eat at the Jamaican place inside Mojo's and hang around for the music.
I'm still waiting to see who will stop by on their way to Lollapalooza in August. Of course, I don't have time to go to shows with all the painting and baby-prepping in my future. You all could at least go out for me.
That is all.

I think Bald Eagle is going to play July 3rd at Mojo's w/ Jumbling Towers from STL. and Benjamin Hook (ex- foundry drummers) new project. Plus Gentlemen Auction House in a few weeks June 26th (maybe) at Mojo's. Just to let you know of a few other shows happening.
